Project Description:
Vision 3 Architects recently completed the renovation of the St. Andrew’s School’s Owing Stone Academic Center Library in Barrington, RI. This project involved transforming approximately 6,000 square feet within a building totaling around 16,000 square feet.
The design took advantage of the great volumetric qualities of the library, along with its abundant natural light – and with strategic use of lighting, color, and texture, reinvigorated the space to best reflect the School’s mission of nourishing the head, heart and soul of its students. Zones within the library were established by the careful selection of new furniture so as to provide spaces for assembly, collaboration, and independent study. The building’s lobby and common corridors were also refreshed with new flooring and wall finishes, including a mixed media installation with a timeline and school shield. This fun and impactful project was a design-build partnership with Vision 3 and Site Specific, which allowed for a productive collaboration between the design and construction teams.
