Project Description:

The Alcove is a cultural center in Providence dedicated to celebrating women and gender-expansive people while creating space for connection, learning, and community. The 4,500 SF renovation and addition transformed an existing single-story building into a vibrant two-story space for The Alcove’s growing community.

The first floor welcomes visitors with a Portrait Gallery and Library, offering opportunities to discover the stories and accomplishments of women and gender-expansive people. Upstairs, a members-only area provides meeting spaces, a self-service kitchenette, and an outdoor terrace designed for gathering and connection. Together, these spaces create a flexible and welcoming environment where The Alcove’s mission can come to life through exhibitions, programs, conversation, and community.
