Project Description:
Over the course of a decade, Vision 3 Architects partnered with Providence Community Health Centers (PCHC) to transform a 3.5-acre industrial site in South Providence into the Prairie Avenue Medical Campus—a modern, sustainable healthcare destination rooted in the neighborhood’s historic fabric.
The campus includes a 41,750 s.f. Primary Care Health Center with an 18,000 s.f. two-story addition, offering services such as Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, OB/Gyn, Behavioral Health, and Urgent Care in a space that celebrates the original brick and timber of the renovated mill buildings. A 50,000 s.f. adaptive reuse of two historic mill structures now houses a medical office hub with tenants including Hasbro Children’s Hospital programs, Lifespan Community Health Services, and PCHC’s general and pediatric dental suites. A new 4,800 s.f. retail pharmacy enhances patient care with on-site prescription access. Vision 3 also led the campus master plan and site development, incorporating phased construction, environmental remediation, and infrastructure improvements to support over 200 staff and deliver community-based care in a walkable, welcoming environment.
