Project Description:

Vision 3 was commissioned to design a 24,000 s.f. corporate headquarters for Pet Food Experts on the second floor of an existing 3-story building in Pawtucket, RI. Interior renovations accommodate administrative office space to support the company’s current 200,000 s.f. Northeast Distribution Center, located only 6 miles away in Cumberland. The headquarters features a reception area, open office spaces, flexible conference and training rooms, break rooms, and an executive conference room. A new roof deck overlooks the Blackstone River & Historic Slater Mill.

Sustainable Design efforts include the exclusive use of LED lighting, low-flow sensored plumbing fixtures, and the use of reclaimed weathered redwood wall accents, which becomes a common theme used throughout the space. Biophilic design was introduced throughout the project to bridge a relationship between the individuals and their environment. A direct connection to nature was achieved by maximizing employees’ exposure to natural light through space layout design. An indirect connection was achieved with careful consideration and selection of interior colors, patterns, and textures that feel natural and refreshing to staff members in their office environment. A “living wall” is located in the break room, and abundant live plants are scattered throughout the space, again providing staff with a figurative connection to outdoor space.
